Bold, pungent flavour with distinctive heat. The king of spices, with a deep history and once traded as a currency.

– Black Pepper adds spicy heat and bold flavour to enhance any savoury dish.

– It is the most popular spice and is used as a seasoning worldwide.

– Try ground on fresh sliced strawberries to add a spicy flavour.

– To maintain the delicate flavours, I recommend grinding and adding pepper just before serving or as a garnish.

The Variety

The cured, unripe berries of a flowering tropical vine, Piper nigrum, native to South India and widely cultivated throughout the tropics.
They are steam sterilised, which is a natural method of eliminating bugs & controlling microbial activity etc., rather than gas or irradiation.

For Your Appreciation

I have specially selected these black peppercorns for their distinctly bold flavour and aroma. They contain no additives or preservatives, and are steam treated as a more natural alternative to irradiation or gas treatment.

Pepper is the most widely used seasoning in the world, used since ancient times when it was traded as a currency. It adds exotic flavour and aroma to almost any dish.

HEALTH BENEFITS

Black Pepper has antibacterial properties, which aids in the preservation of foods. In Ayurvedic medicine, pepper is added to tonics for colds and coughs. It aids the absorption of Curcumin, an antioxidant, digestive, anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet (decreases clotting), cholesterol lowering and anti-carcinogenic, found in Turmeric. Piperine, a compound in peppercorns that gives it it's spiciness, enhances bioavailability helping in transporting benefits from other herbs, spices and healthy foods we consume These Black Peppercorns are steam sterilised, which is a natural method of eliminating bugs & controlling microbial activity etc., rather than gas or irradiation.
